Everything Ready at Club Nàutic S’Arenal
The Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) is ready to host the 61st Gran Día de la Vela – Bufete Frau, one of the most iconic sailing events in the Balearic Islands.
From August 23 to 25 and August 28 to 31, the waters of Palma Bay will once again fill with sails and excitement for this historic regatta, bringing together more than 500 sailors from across Spain.
A benchmark in Mallorca’s sailing scene
The Gran Día de la Vela – Bufete Frau is much more than a regatta: it represents the sporting and social spirit of the CNA.
After celebrating its record-breaking 60th anniversary in 2024, this year’s edition arrives stronger than ever, reaffirming its place as a key event in Spain’s sailing calendar.
The official image of 2025 celebrates the club’s female talent, featuring world champions:
- Neus Fernández and Martina Gomila (420 World Champions)
- Marta Cardona (470 Mixed World Champion)
- Amalia Coll (420 U17 World Champion)
Over 500 boats and a national showcase
More than 500 boats representing eight Spanish regions (Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Andalusia, Catalonia, Murcia, Valencia, Cantabria and Galicia) will compete in this event, which brings together young talents and elite sailors.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Llucmajor Town Hall, the overall winner will have their name engraved on the Rei en Jaume III Ciutat de Llucmajor Trophy.
Additionally, the Ricardo Arnau Memorial Trophy will reward the best novice 420 crew or the top Optimist sailor of the year.
Race schedule and classes
- First phase: from August 23 to 25
Classes: Optimist Sub11, Optimist D, Techno 293, and IQFoil
➤ Nine races scheduled (fifteen for IQFoil). - Second phase: from August 28 to 31
Classes: Optimist Sub13, Optimist Sub16, ILCA 4, and 420
➤ The final award ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 31.
The CNA has prepared three race courses operating simultaneously to ensure top-level competition, supported by more than 70 professionals both at sea and on land.
Tradition, cruising and solidarity
Traditional sailing will also be featured with lateen sail races, while the cruiser ORC class will add a social and festive touch to the event.
In addition, the program includes the XXII Sa Milla CNA – Cala Blava Crossing, a popular open-water swimming event taking place on August 30 at Es Caló beach, with all proceeds benefiting the ELA Balears Association.
