How to get your IBI tax rebate in Palma: A 100% Bonus for Sustainable Homes
If you own a property in Palma de Mallorca, there is good news: the City Council has approved a 100% rebate on the Property Tax (IBI) for those who improve their home’s energy efficiency.
Until recently, this bonus was 50%, but from January 1, 2023, Palma has taken a step forward toward sustainability and energy awareness.
(You can consult the official Palma City Council website for more details.)

How to Obtain the IBI Bonus
To qualify for the 100% rebate, your property must include thermal or electrical energy efficiency systems.
These are installations that use natural resources to maintain temperature or generate electricity — for example, solar panels or other renewable systems.
Bonus Limit
Although the rebate covers 100% of the IBI, the total deduction cannot exceed €12,000.
What if My Property Is Non-Residential?
Owners of non-residential properties can also benefit, but under different conditions.
The 50% bonus will remain in force for three more years.
If you already enjoyed this reduction, it will automatically extend for three additional years.
If not, you now have three years to apply for the 50% rebate.
